Student Cultural Leaders

We are fortunate to have cultural leaders as an integral part of our student leadership team, ensuring that Aboriginal student voice, leadership, and cultural knowledge are visible, valued, and embedded in our school’s identity. These leaders inspire their peers and strengthen our commitment to creating a culturally rich and inclusive school environment.

Cultural Continuum Excursions

Our Aboriginal students across all stages participate in Cultural Continuum excursions with our Brisbane Water network of schools, providing rich opportunities to connect with Country, learn from Elders, and deepen their understanding of Aboriginal histories and cultures.

Deadly Awards

Each year, we participate in the DEADLY Awards, proudly recognising and celebrating the academic, cultural, creative, and sporting achievements of our Aboriginal students, staff, and broader community. These awards reflect our commitment to nurturing excellence and cultural pride.

Young, Black and Ready

We support our youngest learners through the Young, Black and Ready initiative, a highly valued transition program that helps Aboriginal children move confidently from pre-school to Kindergarten while strengthening early cultural identity and family partnerships. Throughout the year, all students engage in cultural lessons that promote language, storytelling, traditional practices, and a celebration of Aboriginal culture woven meaningfully into their learning.

Sista Speak

Our commitment to student wellbeing and leadership is further strengthened through Sista Speak, a powerful program designed for our senior Aboriginal girls. Sista Speak encourages pride in culture, builds self-confidence, and supports students in setting and achieving personal goals. The program provides a safe, empowering space where girls can connect, share experiences, and grow as strong young leaders within our school community.

Personalised Learning Pathways (PLP’s)

Working alongside families, we develop personalised goals for our Aboriginal students through our Personalised Learning Pathway (PLP) process. These conversations ensure every student is supported holistically—academically, socially, culturally, and emotionally—while strengthening the connection between home and school.

Cultural Events

Our school proudly marks significant cultural events throughout the year, including Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, Marramarra Art Show and NAIDOC Week, all of which are embraced through whole-school activities that promote respect, reflection, and celebration. We also participate in the Koorana Cup, an exciting cultural and sporting event within our community that fosters connection, teamwork, and pride among students from local schools.
