Transition to high school

Transitioning into high school is an exciting and important milestone for students and their families. At Empire Bay Public School, we are committed to making this transition smooth, supportive, and positive.

Management of the initial steps in this process of transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7 is initiated by primary schools and involves a two-step process: submitting an online "Moving to high school" expression of interest form, typically in March of Year 6 and then completing a full enrolment application once a placement offer is made.

Options to apply for your local high school or other non-local, selective, or specialist schools are a part of this process.  After submitting the expression of interest, the high school will contact you with further information and instructions for the next step of the application.

At Empire Bay Public School we have a comprehensive transition program with our local high schools which  includes orientation sessions, opportunities to meet new teachers and peers, and tailored support to help students build confidence and settle into the high school environment.

We work closely with local high schools and our families to ensure continuity in learning and wellbeing. Through engaging activities and clear communication, we aim to prepare students for success socially, emotionally, and academically as they begin their high school journey.
